Luigi Fabron

"Christ carrying the cross". Signed.

oil painting on wood. Fabron moved to Naples at a very young age with his family, first learned the drawing from the sculptor Stanislao Lista and was then a pupil of Domenico Morelli at the Royal Academy of Art in Naples. In 1875 he won the Fortuny prize on a par with A. Mancini. Later he tackled the landscape genre thanks to contacts with G. Smargiassi and F. Cortese. Towards 1880 he also devoted himself to works of religious subjects. Frame in gilded wood. Measure cm. 75 x 73.
