oil painting on a tablet by the Pugliese artist who, at a young age, moved to Naples with the intention of developing his artistic propensity. He attended the Institute of Fine Arts in Naples and in particular the landscape painting course of Gabriele Smargiassi of which he became a student. Exponent of the second generation of the Posillipo School, together with Giacinto Gigante and Teodoro Duclère, in the mid-nineteenth century he also came into contact with the painters of the Sienese School of Taggia. His pictorial production was directed to the Neapolitan landscapes, to the coastal subjects with fishing boats as well as to the oriental themes following his travels to Egypt, obtaining considerable success with the wealthy English tourists, in fact a good part of his pictorial production ended up in Great Britain. Frame in gilded and carved wood. Measure cm. 22 x 38.
