Lot N. 405

Emilio Borsa
(Monza, 1857 - 1931)

Signed. "Bunch of flowers" painted in oil on pressed cardboard

work of the Lombard artist who was a pupil of his uncle Mosè Bianchi and Filippo Carcano and worked almost exclusively in Monza portraying its surroundings, as well as genre scenes and portraits. He expressed the best part of himself in the Lombard and Monza landscapes, always described with dull colors and with a full and broad brushstroke, eliminating the human figure that seemed to disturb his purity. In 1889 he was awarded at the World Exhibition in Paris, his works are exhibited in the National Galleries of Modern Art in Rome and Milan. Frame in gilded wood, 31 x 44.5 cm.
